“Vegan Brownies”

Now I’m not vegan, but I have a few friends that are. I am animal OBSESSED (which, if you know me, you would already know) but there are a few things I would struggle to give up…like eggs and dairy. I’m not saying I’ll never be vegan, and I’m definitely not putting vegan people down- In fact, I think what they are doing for humanity is incredible!!! Hats off to you guys!!!

I’m fascinated though, by lifestyles and even ‘diets’ that have a certain list of rules…which is why I like to try my best to come up with things that would help people who have adopted that particular lifestyle or diet…so I took on the challenge to make the ultimate vegan brownie.

I failed at this a few times ,but I think after 6 or 7 failed attempts, I finally nailed the recipe.

Did you know: Oreos are considered to be vegan??!! Well if you didn’t, Now you do.

Vegan Brownies

  • Cook Time: 20 -25 Minutes


  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 1 medium sized avocado, mashed
  • ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ cup spelt flour
  • ½ cup brown rice flour
  • ½ cup cocoa or carob powder
  • ¾ cup coconut sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp bicarb
  • 3 TBS carob nibs
  • 3-4 oreos, crushed


  1. Preheat oven to 180’ and line a brownie tray with some tinfoil, shiny side down.

  2. Add the banana, avocado, almond milk and coconut sugar to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Add the flours, cocoa, baking powder and bicarb to a bowl and mix together.

  4. Add the avocado mixture to this mixture and fold together.

  5. Pour into the prepared brownie tray and top with the crushed oreo and carob nibs.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
